This is an official ICS (International Chili Society) sanctioned cook-off where regional cooks gather to compete for best red and green chili recipes, and best salsa!
The event is now being expanded to 2 FULL DAYS of chili, salsa, and now FIRE! This is the 29th annual chili cook off formerly known as “Chili On The Comstock”.
New for this year, we’re adding a Beltane Fire Festival that will feature a series of exciting fire demonstrations and shows as well as Celtic booths, displays, and entertainment. More details on this new addition to the annual chili cook off are coming soon!
This is going to be 2 fun filled days for the whole family, with live entertainment, games for the kids, craft booths, and plenty of the best “Chili” on The Comstock!
Cash prizes are offered for the various categories including:
Best Red Chili ~ $400 for 1st Place, $200 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd! (Judging time is at 3PM)
Best Green Chili ~ $300 for 1st Place, $150 for 2nd, $75 for 3rd! (Judging time is at 1PM)
Best Salsa ~ $100 to the winner! (Judging time is at 12 Noon)

Cooking starts at 10AM each day and official tasting kits will be sold to the public beginning at 11AM. Tasting kits will be sold for $5 each and will contain 1 oz. cups, spoons, napkins, and 10 tasting tickets (1 ticket per taste at any participating booth). Public tasting of any particular category will be allowed after the cooks have turned in their entries to the judging tent. Ex: Public tasting of salsa is at 12Noon, green chili is at 1PM, red chili is at 3PM
