Come celebrate Nevada’s birthday at the 73rd annual Nevada Day Parade in downtown Carson City, October 29th, 2011!
Nevada officially became a state on Oct. 31st, 1864 and was one of only 2 states admitted into the Union by President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War (West Virginia was the other one).
On October 31st, 1938 the Nevada Day Parade was born to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Nevada statehood and from there an annual tradition was born!
In the year 2000, the Nevada State Legislature voted to officially recognize the last Friday in October as the state holiday and then have the parade the following day (Saturday), which this year falls on Oct. 29th.
